Laser Eye Surgery (LASIK) is a safe and trusted treatment that gives you freedom from glasses and contact lenses. Enjoy your life and independence without the hassle of wearing glasses. Over 27 million people worldwide have now had LASIK and there is over 20 years of knowledge and experience with the procedure.

Is LASIK for you?

LASIK is suitable for those aged 20-65 years and it is possible to treat people with glasses strength from -10.00 to +5.00.

Astigmatism can also be corrected at the same time.

If your age is 40 years or over you may wish to consider Laser Blended Vision (LBV).

If your glasses strength is higher than what is suitable for LASIK then you may want to consider Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) or a Staar ICL.

The LASIK procedure

LASIK is blade-free and uses two lasers to reshape the cornea.

Bowen Eye Clinic uses the latest FDA approved femtosecond and excimer lasers and provides personalised individual treatments. We have both the newest and fastest femtosecond laser and newest excimer laser in Wellington. Bowen Eye Clinic offers a purpose built modern day surgery facility.

The procedure is done as a day procedure and only requires eye drops as local anaesthetic. The laser treatment only takes seconds for each eye and the recovery is fast. You will normally be able to drive the next day and do most day to day activities without glasses.
